- how is my understanding of PYP principles and practices evolving?
- I am learning more indepth knowledge of what the PYP is and how it is best implemented.
- I am learning more about myself as a global citizen and how to encourage and influence my students to be globally minded and internationally conscious.
- I am learning about the role of language in the PYP and how the PYP creates and supports multi-lingual students.
- in what ways can I apply learning from this workshop in my own learning and teaching?
- I most connected with teh section about language and how it is used in the PYP. I am able to use this knowledge to better support my students in their language support.
- I also can apply my better understanding of the LPs when speaking to parents about their use and benefit within our school.
- how is agency supported and nurtured through this workshop?
- I am unsure about how it is nurtured and supported in this workshop. I hope to get better insight into this with the next module.
- how am I developing international-mindedness in my students?
- I feel this is something I will need to do more reflection on in order to give a better and more clear answer. It is hard for me to follow some of the ways suggested as I interact with the students in a different capacity than more teachers. I need to be better at using an international approach to my student´s learning.
- how do I get the learning of language to encompass being international minded?
- language is a huge part of culture and language develops based on the culture using it. Using a variety of languages in a school environment opens all students up to being more aware of the different cultures and communities around the world. I also want to use my expertise in non-traditional modes of communication (sigh language, non verbal cues, braille) to give students an even wider understanding about how communication is universal and something most people share.
- how am I embedding the learner profile into learning and teaching?
- I am reflecting more on how the LPs fit into my role as SEN. I want to use the language of the LPs to help students that I have, especially those with social and emotional difficulties.
- how am I encouraging students to engage with local and global issues and challenges?
- I will continue to use local and global examples, readings, writing prompts, and activities to help my students learn in their own unique ways. I want to increase the use of local issues with students as it gives them something to base their learning on which is comfortable and understandable.
Identify which of the PYP teacher capabilities you have selected. I will select teaching approaches, resources, technologies, learning experiences and assessments that are inclusive and effective for diverse students I will promote student reflection and action in response to their learning. Consider what success in these areas might look like and what approaches you could use to continue learning post workshop. I think success in the area of being inclusive and effective looks like better collaboration with the classroom teachers. I am the SEN teacher, so my life is inclusion and making sure everything is effective for our diverse students. The thing I have to develop and improve is being a better collaborator in order to be a better SEN teacher. Success in promoting reflection and action is involving both of those things in my teaching of students. I want to work to help my students be better inquirers and promote th...
